Vancouver Canucks Captain Quinn Hughes Named NHL Player of the Week
Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes has had a great season so far and is earning some recognition for his play, especially over the last seven days.
Quinn Hughes named NHLPA Player of the Week
On Friday afternoon, the National Hockey League's Players Association announced that Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes has been named Player of the Week for January 24th to 30th.
During that period, the Vancouver Canucks have gone on a three-game win streak, with Quinn Hughes recording six points (two goals, four assists) and became the first defenseman in franchise history to have 100 multi-point games.
"Huggy Bear doesn't hibernate 🐻
Leading all defencemen in points and assists, Quinn Hughes helped the @Canucks
to 3 wins while simultaneously setting a franchise record as NHLPA Player of the Week!" the NHLPA said.
In those three games, Hughes has a trio of multi-point efforts, scoring the winner against the Nashville Predators on Wednesday night, while extending his point streak to seven games.
Throughout the 2024-25 season, Quinn Hughes has shown how important he is to the Vancouver Canucks organization and without him, it's hard to picture this team being anywhere near a playoff spot in the Western Conference.
Because of how important he is to this group and that he's singlehandedly keeping them in the hunt for a playoff spot, there's no question that Quinn Hughes should be one of the three finalists for the Hart Memorial Trophy.
The Vancouver Canucks will continue to lean on Quinn Hughes heavily as the season goes on, with the club one point back of Calgary for the second wild card spot, which they could grab with a win tonight in Dallas.
With a victory tonight against the Stars, the Vancouver Canucks will sweep the road trip and extend their win streak to four games, which would be tied for their longest of the 2024-25 season.
