LATEST | Former Canucks captain Bo Horvat drops the gloves after questionable hit on star player
Bo Horvat captained the Canucks for four years before he got traded away to the Islanders. The experience and leadership he gained through that experience will follow him for the remainder of his career, and tonight, he showed why.
The Islanders' star player Mat Barzal was caught with a questionable hit from the Maple Leafs defenceman Simon Benoit, and the veteran Bo Horvat stepped up to protect his younger teammate.
While many believed Horvat's success last year resulted from an offensively inclined lineup, Bo has been proving his detractors wrong as he's on pace for another career-high season in points. After scoring 38 goals and 70 points in 2022-2023, the Islanders' number 14 is pacing for 34 goals and 76 points. He currently has 20 goals and 45 points after 48 games.
