Back in April, after spending parts of 13 seasons in the National Hockey League, defenceman Justin Braun decided to hang up the skates and his retirement was announced in a social media post by the NHL Alumni Association.

Flash forward two months and Braun has decided to end his retirement and will be returning to the ice next season.

On Tuesday, German club Straubing Tigers, announced that they've signed Braun to a one-year contract for the 2023-24 season.

"I'm incredibly happy to be a part of the Straubing Tigers. I can't wait to get there and start the next chapter of my career." Braun said.

Braun, a native of Minneapolis, Minnesota, appeared in 842 games in the NHL for the San Jose Sharks, Philadelphia Flyers and the New York Rangers, tallying 199 points (34 goals, 165 assists), 317 penalty minutes and was a plus-23. He played a crucial role in helping the Sharks reach the Stanley Cup Final in 2016, as well as the Western Conference Finals in 2019.
