LATEST | NHL announces cap penalties related to performance bonuses
The League has emitted their final report regarding the cap penalties they'll be awarded with for the upcoming season.
The Canucks are one of 15 teams that will be suffering from these bonuses. Per PuckPedia, due to Andrei Kuzmenko's outstanding season, the Canucks will have a penalty worth $850M. The amount will be taken off their cap space for the 2023-2024 campaign.
The Bruins will have a $4.5M write-off since both Patrice Bergeron and David Krejci have exceeded the expectations as well:
On one end, it's a good thing that Kuzmenko broke every expectation previously set for him. On the other end, it means he'll have the equivalent of a $6.35M cap hit for the next season ($850K penalty + $5.5M AAV new deal).
The remaining question at this point is: will Kuzmenko score as many points next year?
