MAJOR | Huge development regarding the team's 2022 First Round Pick Jonathan Lekkerimaki
The Canucks selected the highly skilled Swede winger Jonathan Lekkerimaki with the 15th selection of the 2022 draft.
While his season didn't go as he'd hoped, he was absolutely lethal in the playoffs and registered 15 points in 15 games.
Recent development on the winger suggested that the Canucks were trying to work out a deal to get him signed and then loan him to Leksands of the SHL:
'Lots of rumblings that Jonathan Lekkerimäki will be signing his entry-level contract with the Canucks and then be loaned to Leksands in the SHL for the 2023-24 season.
Also hearing Färjestad is a potential landing spot. They are targeting the young draft picks from Djurgrden.''
Having him under contract surely gives the Canucks more control over his development and probably indicates that we could be seeing more of him next year.
He'll be expected to come to Vancouver and train for a weeks over the summer. He could also joined the Abbotsford Canucks once his season ends just like Filip Johansson did this year.
