We've got some breaking news out of Edmonton as Sportsnet Hockey Insider Elliotte Friedman revealed the Oilers General Manager Ken Holland had traded Oilers forward Jesse Puljujärvi to the Carolina Hurricanes.

Things hadn't gone the way the Oilers or Puljujärvi hoped for when the Oilers selected him 4th overall in the 2016 NHL draft.

The 24-year-old has just 5 goals, and 9 assists in 58 games this season with the Oilers and is a pending RFA this summer with an annual salary of $3 million dollars.

The Oilers needed to clear cap space to make a bigger deal since they've been rumored to be in on Chychrun and Gavrikov. It'll be interesting to see where this goes. As for the Hurricanes, they were looking to add someone for the playoffs with Max Pacioretty being injured after re-tearing his Achilles tendon.
