Faceoff: Inside the NHL was released worldwide on Thursday, October 4th, one day before the National Hockey League's 2024-25 campaign got underway in Prague, Czechia.
The docuseries, which was six episodes long, gave fans a behind-the-scenes look at some of the National Hockey League's biggest stars including Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, Quinn Hughes, David Pastrnak, among others and has been a hit so far for those who have tuned in to watch.
While mistakes happen in every field, the production team for 'Faceoff: Inside the NHL' reportedly made an egregious on in the first episode that didn't get caught or reported during editing.
In the first episode, which featured Toronto Maple Leafs forward William Nylander and Boston Bruins forward David Pastrnak, the latter was being interviewed and when talking about his father, Milan, who passed away following a five-year battle with skin cancer in 2013, the docuseries showed the wrong image. Instead of showing a photo of David Pastrnak with his father Milan, they aired an image of the Bruins forward with Jiri Dopita, who played a long-time in the top division in Czechia, along with two seasons in the NHL with Philadelphia and Edmonton.
It's unclear how this went unchecked during the editing process, but it's a pretty significant mistake that left some fans not so happy. Hopefully the producers of the docuseries have reached out to David Pastrnak to apologize for the error.
