Hockey Community Once Again In Mourning as 17-Year-Old Goalie Tragically Passes Away

A 17-year-old youth goaltender in Ontario, Canada has sadly passed away this week, the Clarence-Rockland Girls Hockey Association announced on Friday.
The hockey world continues to mourn the passing of those we've lost in 2025 including
former NHLer Claude Verret, who we lost this week after a battle with an illness.
On Saturday, we have some sad news to share out of Eastern Ontario as a youth goaltender has lost her life after being involved in a car accident.
17-year-old goaltender Madelyne Duval passes away
In a social media post on Friday evening, the Clarence-Rockland Girls Hockey Association announced the passing of Madelyne Duval, a goaltender from their Under-18 program.
"Today, the Lightning association was heartbroken to learn of the passing of our U18 goalie, Madelyn Duval.
We extend our heartfelt condolences to Kimberly and the entire family.
Players who need help or additional support during this difficult time are encouraged to reach out to the association for available options." the association said.

A parent of a player on that under-18 team
shared the news on Facebook, saying that Duval sadly was involved in a car accident on Thursday night and unfortunately, succumbed to her injuries.
"It is with a heavy heart that I'm writing this morning to inform the team that last night Maddy was involved in a car accident and unfortunately succumbed to her injuries.
I would like to offer my sincerest condolences to Kim and her family.
I encourage the girls to reach out and support each other in these trying times.
