"I'll Do Anything For My Country" - Drew Doughty Sends Warning to USA Ahead of Final
Drew Doughty and Matthew Tkachuk will meet in the 4 Nations Face-Off championship game on Thursday night in Boston and it could get rough, quickly once again.
Team Canada came into action on Monday needing a regulation win to book their ticket to the 4 Nations Face-Off championship game, and
with the return of Cale Makar, they were able to defeat Finland by a score of 5 to 3, knocking the Finns out of the tournament.
Drew Doughty willing to fight Matthew Tkachuk on Thursday night
After Canada's win over Finland yesterday, Drew Doughty was interviewed by the TNT panel where he was asked if he'd drop the mitts with Matthew Tkachuk in the championship game.
Doughty laughed at Paul Bissonnette's question, but didn't rule out the possibility of it happening, saying that he'd do anything for his country.
"You're putting me on the spot Biz." Tkachuk said laughing. "I'll do anything for my country and if the time is right, and I've got to go, I guess so."
Drew Doughty and Matthew Tkachuk have a history in the National Hockey League, back when the latter was playing for the Calgary Flames.
The two players went at it on numerous occasions over the years and it wouldn't be a shock whatsoever if they drop the mitts in a big game for their respective countries later this week.
It's been an exciting time for fans at the 4 Nations Face-Off and the return of best-on-best international hockey was desperately needed after eight-and-a-half years, which thankfully we won't have to wait that long again with the 2026 Winter Olympics next February and
the return of the World Cup of Hockey, starting in 2028.
