Update: Partner reportedly confesses to killing Janne Puhakka, Finland's first openly gay pro hockey player
In what was a truly shocking story, 29-year-old Janne Puhakka, former QMJHL player and first openly gay Finnish pro hockey player was tragically killed where it was suspected his partner was involved, now, there seems to have been confirmation.
According to TMZ, the rumors on the way Puhakka was killed and by who have been revealed. Rolf Nordmo, a 66-year-old veterinarian originally from Norway and partner to Puhakka has allegedly confessed to gunning him down. The two had a 37-year age gap and had been together for 10 years since 2014.
According to the updated report, Puhakka and Nordmo had recently split-up, and after family and friends did not hear from Janne in a few days, the police were called to do a routine wellness check on him, and unfortunately, that is when is body was found.
The retired hockey pro who played junior hockey in the QMJHL, recently had moved out after the relationship ended, but had remained «somewhat involved» with his former lover, investigators said.

According to IS information, the (crime) took place on Sunday evening at the property where ex-hockey player Janne Puhakka , 29, and his partner, Norwegian veterinarian Rolf Nordmo , 66, live. [...] The police will not confirm the identities of the parties involved.
ALTHOUGH it's only been less than a day [...] the police have a good idea of the course of events.
- We have a reasonably good understanding of what has happened, crime commissioner, head of investigation Matti Högman tells Ilta-Sanom.
- But, of course, we only suspect and the investigation is in the early stages, Högman says.
The police suspect that the act was particularly brutal and cruel. In addition, the police suspect that there was sound judgment in the act.
- We suspect sound judgment and a particularly raw and cruel way of doing things, Högman tells Ilta-Sanom."
His 66-year0-old partner was originally arrested for manslaughter, but after his confession it is believed that the charge has since been upgraded to murder.
«The act is suspected to have been committed with premeditation and in a particularly brutal and cruel manner,» according to a police statement.
