LATEST | Insider just confirmed an important rumour regarding Nikita Zadorov and his future in Vancouver
Many talks have been surrounding Nikita Zadorov and the trade market since yesterday. The Defenseman joined the Canucks earlier this season, but it appears that Patrik Allvin and Jim Rutherford had a change in their strategies.
ZADOROV BACK ON THE TRADE MARKET?
Elliott Friedman made a bold statement yesterday suggesting that the Canucks could be looking at trading either one of Zadorov or Kuzmenko in an attempt to gain cap space heading into the deadline. While Dan Milstein, his agent, made it clear that he had not been informed of the fact Zadorov was being shopped, another insider just revealed that the Canucks had sent a clear message confirming that the big defenceman was up for grabs.
@SatiarShah mentioned that the #Canucks had sent faxes and AOL Messenger messages to every team in the league, indicating that Zadorov is available.
Shah added that it was never about trading Zadorov because they didn't like the player; it was more about exploring their options to improve this team. While he confirmed that Zadorov was available, he did mention that it didn't make it likely, but that the Canucks were looking at a wide variety of options at this moment.
Zadorov will be a free agent by the end of the season, and the Canucks may not be able to lock him up for the upcoming seasons. If they can't agree on an extension by the deadline, should they move Big Z? He'll have total autonomy by July 1st.
