BREAKING | NHL legend suddenly passed at age 81
The Hockey world is mourning after the announcement of Rick Jeanneret's passing. The Buffalo Sabres issued the statement confirming the saddening news:
The Sabres issued the following statement on behalf of his family:
''It is with extreme sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother, Rick Jeanneret, Hall of Fame broadcaster for the Buffalo Sabres. Rick died on August 17th, 2023 with his family by his side after a two year with multi-organ failures.
He will be loved forever.''
At the time of his retirement in 2022, 'RJ' was the longest tenured broadcaster in all of the NHL. Jeanneret called Sabres games from 1971 until his retirement in 2022 and served as the team's broadcaster emeritus last season.
At this time, he his the member of multiples hall of fame, including the Buffalo Sabres and hockey's very own.
