LATEST | Former Canucks goaltender released from contract: Perhaps the end of his NHL career
After spending the last two weeks with the Carolina Hurricanes on a professional tryout contract, Jaroslav Halak is now a free agent once again.
According to Walt Ruff, the Hurricanes have released Halak from his professional tryout contract and he'll become an unrestricted free agent.
"The #Canes have released goaltender Jaroslav Halak from his free agent tryout.
As for Pyotr Kochetkov, today was a maintenance day." Halak, 38, never appeared in any games with the Hurricanes while on his PTO, but practiced with the team with Frederik Andersen out with a medical issue.
Last season, Halak appeared in 25 games with the New York Rangers where he had a record of 10-9-5 with a goals against average of 2.72, a .903 save percentage and one shutout.
