BREAKING | Young Avalanche Defenseman suddenly leaves the NHL: An announcement has been made
One of the avalanches, young defenseman, Samuel Gérard, suddenly left the team just about a week ago. He's been made a healthy scratched over the last few games, including when the Canucks we're in Denver.
RECENT ANNOUNCEMENT CLARIFIES THE SITUATION
The avalanche had yet to explain Girard's, but the NHL's recent announcement offered some clarity on his sudden departure. TSN's insider Chris Johnston brought the news that Girard had entered the NHLPA/NHL player assistance program:
''The National Hockey League and National Hockey League Players' Association announced today that Samuel Girard of the Colorado Avalanche will be unavailable to his Club for an indefinite period while he receives care from the Player Assistance Program of the NHLPA and NHL.'' A 25 year old defenseman, Girard leaves the team with an hefty void to fill. Despite his young age, he is quite the experience defenceman with deep playoffs runs and a Stanley Cup in his resume.
At this moment we're glad to see that he reached out to get the help he needed and only wish him a speedy recovery.
