According to Rinat Bashirov, the Technical Director for KHL club Salavat Yulaev Ufa, former New York Islanders first-round pick Josh Ho-Sang is reportedly considering retirement.

"Now he is thinking about ending his professional (hockey) career," Salavat technical director Rinat Bashirov said in the article. "In his latest messages to us, he said that we can easily start hiring the legionnaires (non-Russian players) we want."

Last season, Ho-Sang was injured in his first game with Salavat Yulaev Ufa and had to go to Germany to undergo surgery. He was able to return to the team for the playoffs, appeared in four games, but went pointless.

The 27-year-old has had a controversial past when it comes to his time with the New York Islanders. Many found it disrespectful that he chose to wear number 66, even though Lemieux had no issue with it. He was then forced to change to a lower number by Lou Lamoriello in 2018 due to his policy of not having players wear anything higher than 35.

Ho-Sang, a native of Toronto, also had an incident back in 2015 where he slept through his alarm on the first day of the Islanders' training camp. He was then forced to run and down the stairs at the team's arena for three hours before being assigned back to the Ontario Hockey League.

In 53 career NHL games, all with the Islanders, Ho-Sang had 24 points (seven goals, 17 assists), 20 penalty minutes and was a minus-four.
