BREAKING | Controversial defenseman placed on waivers
The Flyers just made the announcement, they've placed Tony DeAngelo on unconditional waivers. Meaning they'll be buying out the remaining year on the defenseman's contract.
The defenseman had a year left at a $5M AAV, now he'll be free to sign anywhere. It had already been rumored that a reunion with the Carolina Hurricanes had fallen through due to a technicality, meaning the Flyers had been trying to move him for a while now.
DeAngelo collected 42 points in 70 games this season in Philly. He had managed 51 in 64 the previous year with the Hurricanes.
