The St. Louis Blues made a prominent announcement on their social media accounts on Thursday, announcing a trio of new inductees into their Hall of Fame.

Among those inducted by the St. Louis Blues into their second-ever Hall of Fame class are former Vancouver Canucks forward Pavol Demitra, goaltender Mike Liut and forward Keith Tkachuk.

"Pavol Demitra did not take long to cement himself as a key piece of the franchise in his time in St. Louis. Known for his playmaking ability on the ice and being a great teammate off the ice, Demitra helped lead the Blues to the playoffs each of his eight seasons wearing the Blue Note." The Blues said via their team website.

Demitra spent parts of 16 seasons in the National Hockey League, with his final two coming as a member of the Vancouver Canucks where he had 69 points (23 goals, 46 assists) in 97 games. During his last NHL season at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, he also represented his nation, Slovakia. Demitra helped Slovakia reach the Bronze Medal Game, where they lost to Finland, but he played a crucial role in their 4-3 quarter-final win over Sweden, recording three points.

In 2011, while with KHL club Lokomotiv Yaroslavl, Demitra passed away following a plane crash.
