Mcdonough is a 23-year-old forward who had a short stint with the Canucks last season, where he recorded 1 goal in 7 games. The 7th round pick will participate in the 10th Young Star Classic event. This will be his first time participating in the event. Mcdonough said
"I'm really excited to play. It's a great opportunity for me to show what I can do and hopefully kind of jumpstart that into a good camp and a good season."
Klimovich is a 20-year old Russian product, who has played for the Canucks farm team, the Abbotsford Canucks for two seasons. Last season, he recorded 29 points in 67 games. Klimovich will also be participating in the Young Stars Classic event but he will be one of 7 players who will be returning as he played in last years event. In the article, Klimovich speaks fondly of the tournament saying ...Young Stars was a good experience for me."
Along with the Young Stars Classic Tournament both players have had great summers preparing for the upcoming season.
Klimovich spent the summer in Vancouver. He has been competing in informal skates to help him get ready for the tournament. Klimovich has worked on his shooting and creativity. He has also watched video to help with his positioning on the ice.
Mcdonough spent his summer in Massachussets, where he grew up. He has since arrived back in Vancouver stating that it is «invaluable» to get to Vancouver early and begin training. Mcdonough has also been on the ice at informal skates as he gears up for training camp.
Mcdonough and Klimovich will look to have a strong Young Stars Tournament that leads them into strong camps that will hopefully give them each a shot at the Canucks roster.
