Bruce Boudreau coached the Canucks for two half seasons and got both the best and the worst of them. Some thought that his relationship with Boudreau was one of the reasons they chose to replace him with Rick Tocchet. While it may have been part of the reason, it definitely wasn't because they didn't respect or like each other.

In an interview earlier, Boudreau was whether or not he was a fan of Miller and how he felt about the Canucks inking him to a long-term deal. His response says everything we need to know about how the coach felt:

'When they asked me, and (management) didn't ask me a lot of things, I said absolutely sign him. I think he's great. You can get mad at him for doing some of the things he did, but I love guys who wear their heart on their sleeve. If you took that away from him, you're taking a lot of his game away. I just wanted him to be him''

Boudreau even went further and adressed Miller's recent surge as top-end two-way forward. Boudreau revealed that he knew from the get go that Miller wanted to be a part of the solution and desperately wanted to be involved in the team's success:

'He's a bonafide centre. There are two things about J.T. Our PK wasn't very good and we were using other people. He said: «Include me. I was part of the problem.» He insisted that he continue to kill penalties. It convinced me he really cared. He wants to be part of the solution, rather than having somebody else do the job.''

Everybody knows that Bruce Boudreau is an excellent coach, even at the game's highest level. However, the further we get into the season, the more evident it becomes that Tocchet was better suited to coach this young group of players.
