LATEST | Canucks release statement on one of the team's all-time greats
Former Canucks captain Markus Naslund spent parts of 12 seasons of his National Hockey League career in Vancouver, and on Sunday, he reached a big milestone.
In a post made on their social media accounts, the Canucks are celebrating Markus Naslund, who turned 50 years old on Sunday.
The Ornskoldsvik, Sweden, appeared in 884 games for the Canucks between 1996 and 2008, recording 756 points (346 goals, 410 assists), 614 penalty minutes and was a plus-two. During his time in Vancouver, Naslund was captain for parts of seven seasons. The Canucks made the Stanley Cup Playoffs in five of Naslund's 12 seasons with the organization.
In December 2010, Naslund had his number 19 retired by the Canucks to honour his services to the franchise.
