The Vancouver Canucks welcomed fans back to Rogers Arena on Saturday evening for their first home preseason game as they took on the Edmonton Oilers.

Vancouver performed quite well all throughout the game, with captain Quinn Hughes having a three-point night to lead the Canucks to their first victory in the preseason.

Late in the third period, with under a minute remaining, things got heated after Edmonton Oilers defenceman Vincent Desharnais delivered a dangerous cross-check to the face of Vancouver Canucks forward Anthony Beauvillier.

Desharnais' cross-check, which can be seen in the video below, led to a huge scrum where a total of 30 penalty minutes were handed out. Vincent Desharnais was handed four minutes for cross-checking, as well as a ten-minute misconduct, while his teammate Adam Erne received four minutes for roughing and a ten-minute misconduct. Jack Studnicka was the only player on the Canucks to land a penalty during the scrum - two minutes for roughing.

The Canucks and Oilers will meet in less than a week in their opening game of the 2023-24 season on Wednesday, October 11th.
