LATEST | Incredible scene in Rogers Arena during Roberto Luongo'a tribute
Tonight was the night when the Canucks elected to induct the now-retired goaltender Roberto Luongo into the team's ring of honour.
The whole ceremony turned out to be a success for the organization. Notable players from Luongo's time were in attendance; the Sedins, Cory Schneider and Kevin Bieksa narrated the induction video:
"You were more than a goalie. You were our confidence, edge, pocket aces, and hope that we could reach our goals."
Luongo was then allowed to address the fans and made sure to acknowledge and thank the fans for the wonderful time he shared:
"You pushed me to be a better person and goalie, and I took that and appreciated it. I thank you from the bottom of my heart."
Some will say Luongo is, to this day, the best-goalie to play in Vancouver; some will say he was one of them. Regardless, he had a tremendous career with the Canucks and deserved recognition for it.
