The Canucks' captain is making a statement this year and is building a strong case as a Norris candidate thus far this year. Hughes has been piling up strong performances and the NHL issued another statement regarding his strong outings.
HUGHES: AS HOT AS IT GETS
The Defenseman scored his ninth on the season in the first period and became the sixth d-man in 25 years to record an 11 games point streak on the road. The NHL issued the following statement confirming the deed:
''Quinn Hughes became the sixth defenseman in 25 years to record a road point streak of at least 11 games, joining Brent Burns (14 GP in 2016-17), Brian Rafalski (12 GP in 2007-08), Filip Hronek (11 GP in 2022-23), Cale Makar (11 GP in 2021-22) and Andrei Markov (11 GP in 2009-10).''
The NHL must be getting sick of making announcement on the Canucks' captain, but Hughes' is playing with a chip on his shoulder and a strong will to show that he belongs in the conversation as one of the league's top Defenseman.
