Just a few weeks into training camp, Patrik Allvin struck big and announced that he had completed a trade with the Montreal Canadiens. The veteran winger was off to Montreal in a three-piece deal.
WIN-WIN for everyone?
It may be early to evaluate the dividends of this deal fully. However, Allvin fixed lots of issues with only one trade. Not only did the Canucks have too many NHL wingers, they also needed cap space and a backup for Thatcher Demko. With this deal, he fixed all that. Here's how that trade looked:
Everyone's taken notice of DeSmith's effectiveness in the cage. He's been splendid through camp and even better since the season started. On the other end, while everyone believed Tanner Pearson was on the decline, he seems to be proving otherwise, as he's now up to 5 points in just as many games.
''Tanner Pearson had 1+1 tonight in Habs 3-1 win at Buffalo. He has 3+2 in 5 games and has already matched his point total from last season. Trade has worked out for him. And the deal has worked for both the Habs and Canucks''
We wished him the best with everything that Pearson had to go through. Meanwhile, were hoping DeSmith keeps on playing the way he does since the Canucks desperately need someone they can rely on that's not named Thatcher Demko.
