American NHL Player Publicly Supports Canadian Fans Booing the United States National Anthem
In a surprising turn of events, it appears that an American NHL players has come out to publicly support Canadians fans booing the United States National Anthem considering the reason why they are doing it.
International hockey, especially the rivalry between Canada and United States does not need the extra fuel to the fire to make things exciting, but after last nights matchup involving three brawls, one can only hope to see these two in the finals.
Anonymous American Player Supports Canadian Fans Booing the U.S. National Anthem
There are obviously mixed opinions on the situation, but an American NHL player who wants to remain anonymous has come out to surprisingly support the Canadian fans' stand against his home countries anthem.
Despite announcers in the Bell Centre in Montreal asking fans to restrain from booing and to respect opposing teams anthems, fans competently disregarded that message and continued on during their protest.
Cam Robinson of Elite Prospects shared that he has a conversation with an anonymous American player, who said he was uncomfortable with the booing but completely understands why Canadians are reacting the way they are.
If he were to put himself in their shoes, he states he most likely would do the same thing.
Yeah, when you look it at from that side, I wouldn't like another country threatening to swallow up mine (country). Especially one as big as the US. Would probably do more than boo an anthem..."
Even though anonymous, it takes a lot of courage to try and see this situation from the other sides perspective.
One thing is for sure, both sides are feeling the pressure of wearing their countries crest across their chest.
