Former Canuck Kevin Bieksa receives major award
Kevin Bieksa has received his first-ever Canadian Screen Award. The Hockey Night In Canada personality was recognized as the best sports analyst in the country.
The former Canuck's award was announced on air during the intermission by co-host Ron MacLean. True to his hockey roots, Bieksa said he was being given a "team award."
If Steve gives me the wrong numbers I look like a fool out here, if Hailey doesn't count me down I look like a fool so... team award.
Bieksa became a regular member of the Hockey Night in Canada panel in 2020, quickly becoming a program staple and a refreshing change.
The 42-year-old was also nominated for a Canadian Screen Award in 2021, just one year into his on-screen career. Other winners included TSN's Kate Beirness in the hosting category and Sportsnet Director Ron Forsythe in the direction category.
Bieksa is known for the 13 seasons he spent with the organization and the role he played in the team's 2011 Stanley Cup run.
