The Canucks have 'managed'' since their all-star netminder Thatcher Demko has been sidelined with an undisclosed injury. The Canucks have not yet given a meaningful update, and tons of speculation have gone around on the subject. Thus far, none of them have been proven false.

Demko got injured at the beginning of March, was placed on the team's Long Term Injury Reserve, and was eligible for a return on April 6th. He has already started skating solo but has yet to skate with his teammates. With five games remaining on the team's calendar and up-and-down performances upfront, people wonder whether they rely on Demko too much.

Earlier, the NHL insider Elliotte Friedman revealed on his 32 Thoughts Podcast that the earliest Demko would return would be Saturday. At that point, the Canucks will be in Edmonton with three games remaining in the regular season.

Elliotte: I think the earliest Demko plays is Saturday.

Tocchet gave most of the starts to DeSmith, which worked at first. The heavier workload hasn't worked for him in the Canucks' last few games. Arturs Silovs will be given a few crucial starts from there, and how he responds will play a deciding factor in how Rutherford and Allvin will manage their goaltending depth while heading into free agency.
