Playing for the North Bay Battalion of the OHL, in a matchup against the Erie Otters, the awkward hit that will keep him out of the lineup indefinitely occurred at 10:32 of the very 1st period. After staying down for a little while, he was helped off the ice and did not return to the game. At the time, there were no details on the extent of his injury, but shortly after the game concluded, the team confirmed he had fractured his clavicle.
It is pretty unfortunate news for the youngster as he really impressed the Canucks organization in his first ever rookie development camp. After being drafted in the 6th round, 162nd overall, the expectations were not as high for him, but he did not let that stop him as he was one of the most impressive players in camp.
Leading up to the injury, Romani was a point-per-game player, scoring 2 goals and 3 assists in 5 games for North Bay.
The expectation did grow as Monia lit the lamp and basically lit the entire league on fire for the OHL North Bay Battalion. In 68 games played, he scored a whopping 58 goals and 53 assists for 111 points, achieving an average of 1.6 points per game.
The timeline for his return to action is still unclear but with the extent of his injury it can be expected he will miss significant time.
