In a recent interview, Jim Rutherford opened up on the Canucks' goaltending situation as the team heads towards their annual training camp.

The Canucks' President of Hockey Operations shared that he's pleased with the health status of Thatcher Demko and Arturs Silovs, two critical pieces of Vancouver's goaltending tandem. However, Rutherford didn't shy away from admitting the organization is still exploring adding a depth goalie as a safety net.

Rumours have swirled linking the Canucks to veteran netminders Kevin Lankinen and Antti Raanta, the latter having previously played under head coach Rick Tocchet during their time in Arizona. Whether a new face joins the fold or not, it's clear the Canucks are aiming for an even more vigorous campaign this season.

Rutherford also expressed his belief that the team is poised to improve on last year's 109-point season, feeling stronger and better equipped for the upcoming year.

"I would suggest that everybody learned from last season. . . and know what it takes to take that next step. This team is certainly in a much stronger position because the players have learned to play Rick Tocchet's system, bought into it, and played it well. And we learned from experience with what we went through last year. You put all that together, stay focused, and prepare to take another step.
