After the team chose not to address J.T. Miller's absence from the pre-season, The veteran took it upon himself to clear the air and reveal the truth.
After he confirmed that he'd be ready to go on Friday, for the team's last pre-season game against the Oilers, Miller was asked about the way he felt in regards to the team's training camp and he drew a very interesting comparison.
Miller opened up on this year's training and revealed that Tocchet and the leaders had put a very strong emphasis on the player's off-ice preparation and their summer training. Miller was happy to share that it clearly showed and that even though the Canucks added important number of new players to their group, they already felt really close, just like last year.
The 2023-2024 season ended up being an important change of direction for the Canucks. Under Rick Tocchet's guidance they went from a top10 lottery pick to a playoff contender. Career years from J.T. Miller who finally broke the 100-point mark in a season, Quinn Hughes who won the Norris Trophy and for Brock Boeser who scored 40, led the way for the Orcas.
Without Elias Pettersson and Filip Hronek's contract talks in the air everyone is hopeful the Canucks will be even better this year will a closer and more experienced group.
