LATEST | Insider provides an update on Phil Kessel and his future with the Canucks
Phil Kessel is "on the right track," but it's unclear if a contract with the Canucks will come to fruition.
Insider Rick Dhaliwal says this was always going to be a long process, and at this time, the team continues to evaluate Kessel.
He has to pass checkpoints on and off the ice... the goal is to be NHL game-ready for Kessel.
Dhaliwal said there's no plan to get Kessel into AHL games anytime soon, but the team is continuing to work him out with the Abbotsford Canucks.
The Canucks insider says it was never going to be a quick process and urges fans to be patient in the process.
