The newest installment of the EA Sports NHL series is set to be released later this year on Xbox and PlayStation. NHL 25 will be the 34th edition of the EA Sports NHL series and this year, it appears that a member of the Vancouver Canucks will be featured on the cover to the video game.
In a post on social media on Monday afternoon, Noah Strang of Daily Hive shared that the trailer for NHL 25 had been posted on YouTube by EA Sports, but has since been unlisted and made private.
Near the end of the official reveal trailer, it shows Vancouver Canucks captain Quinn Hughes, alongside his brothers Jack and Luke, both of whom play for the New Jersey Devils. Based on this, it's safe to assume that Quinn Hughes and his brothers will be the cover athletes for EA Sports NHL 25.
This is a very big honour for Quinn Hughes, coming off a monster season with the Vancouver Canucks where he had 92 points (17 goals, 75 assists) in 82 games and took home his first Norris Trophy, which is handed out annually to the league's best defenceman.
Hughes won't be the first member of the Vancouver Canucks to feature on the cover of EA Sports NHL. The first was Kirk McLean on NHL 95, along with Alexei Kovalev of the New York Rangers. A decade later, Vancouver Canucks captain Markus Naslund was on the cover of NHL 2005.
The Swedish cover of EA Sports NHL has also featured members of the Vancouver Canucks in the past - Markus Naslund (NHL 2000), Henrik & Daniel Sedin (NHL 11), as well as Elias Pettersson (NHL 19).
The official reveal trailer for EA Sports NHL 25 is set to be launched on Thursday, August 22nd at 8 am PT/11 am ET on YouTube.
