NHL makes a statement on Vancouver Canucks forward JT Miller
Last night, the Vancouver Canucks and Edmonton Oilers battled in Game 5 of their second round series at Rogers Arena and it took until late in the contest to get the winner.
As the game appeared it was heading to overtime, the Vancouver Canucks had other plans. Nils Hoglander threw the puck on net, where Elias Pettersson then redirected it off the post with his skate. The puck came to a wide-open J.T. Miller who put it in the open net to give the Canucks a 2-1 lead with 33 seconds remaining.
The Canucks would hold on to take the victory in Game 5 and take a massive 3-2 series lead, with an opportunity on Saturday to advance to their first Western Conference Final since 2011.
After the game, the National Hockey League's Public Relations account on X made a statement on J.T. Miller and his late game-winning goal.
"J.T. Miller put the Canucks up 3-2 with 33 seconds remaining in regulation, marking the second-latest go-ahead playoff goal in franchise history after Raffi Torres in Game 1 of the 2011 Stanley Cup Final (59:41)."
Miller, 31, has been solid for the Canucks throughout the 2024 Stanley Cup Playoffs, putting up 12 points (three goals, nine assists) in 11 games. When called upon, Miller has delivered for the Canucks and he'll be relied on heavily in Game 6.
Puck drop for Game 6 on Saturday night is set for 5 p.m. PT/8 p.m. ET and can be viewed across the country on Hockey Night in Canada (CBC & Sportsnet).
