Report: Vancouver Canucks Reportedly Looking to Finalize Trade Before NHL Roster Freeze
With the NHL roster freeze starting tonight at 12AM, the Vancouver Canucks are reportedly trying to get a deal done before they have to wait until after December 27th.
The Vancouver Canucks are under pressure to make a deal before it's too late.
Jim Rutherford already told the media that he and Patrik Allvin are looking for players to improve their team so they can be true contenders.
Even before being the Canucks' President of Hockey Operations, Rutherford had the reputation for making bold moves as a general manager, and now Patrik Allvin is taking after him.
Vancouver Canucks looking to make a trade before NHL Roster Freeze
According to the Daily Faceoffs Frank Seravalli, he feels that the Canucks are actively trying to make a deal before the freeze tonight at midnight.
»I'm told the Canucks feel like they've made some progress on their search for an impact defenseman, an efficient puck mover, and there seems to be a heightened sense of urgency in the last 24 to 48 hours as to whether or not they might even be able to get something done before the trade freeze kicks in at midnight on Thursday.»
It is already known that the Canucks are in search for an upgrade on their defense, especially with the injury of Filip Hronek.
They are also looking to add a winger, with Brock Boeser being a pending unrestricted free agent this summer.
Seravalli added that he is not guaranteeing anything, but know from sources that progress is being made.
»So they're up against the clock. I'm certainly not guaranteeing that it's going to happen, but they think that they've made some progress here, and I don't even have a team or player to pinpoint yet, but certainly on alert with the Canucks. That's been their mission and mandate from training camp on is to add that piece. They're one of the most aggressive front offices in the league, if not the most aggressive. So stay tuned.»
