The Vancouver Canucks welcomed the Washington Capitals to Rogers Arena on Saturday for their lone game in British Columbia this season and it was a milestone night for one of their players.

Coming into Saturday, it was unclear if T.J. Oshie was going to play, with Capitals head coach Spencer Carbery calling him a game-time decision. Oshie took the warmup and felt good enough to suit up against the Canucks which marked the 1,000th game of his National Hockey League career.

Just over three minutes into the game, with a stoppage in play, the Vancouver Canucks made a classy gesture to T.J. Oshie to mark the milestone. The jumbotron at Rogers Arena showed Oshie sitting on the Capitals' bench with a graphic congratulating him on reaching 1,000 games in the National Hockey League. Fans in attendance at Rogers Arena also gave Oshie a loud ovation.

"Nice ovation for TJ Oshie by #Canucks fans, recognizing his 1,000th NHL game." Williams said.

Oshie has been playing in the National Hockey League since the 2008-09 season when he was a member of the St. Louis Blues. During his first 999 games with the Blues and Capitals, Oshie had 689 points (301 goals, 388 assists), 539 penalty minutes and one Stanley Cup, which he lifted over his head in 2018 with Washington.

From everyone here at Canucks Daily, congratulations to T.J. Oshie on reaching the 1,000 game mark in the National Hockey League.
