It's been a bit of a hectic season to say the least for Vancouver Canucks prospect Josh Bloom, who the team acquired in a trade with the Buffalo Sabres in early 2023.

Bloom started out the year in the professional ranks, playing 14 games for the AHL's Abbotsford Canucks and eight games for Vancouver's ECHL affiliate, the Kalamazoo Wings. But all sides decided that it would be best for Bloom's development to head back to the Ontario Hockey League for the remainder of the 2023-24 campaign.

On January 5th, the Canucks assigned Josh Bloom to the OHL's Saginaw Spirit, who are set to host the 2024 Memorial Cup in late-May/early-June. Adding Bloom to an already stacked Spirit squad has helped the team to the best record, so far, in the West Division and are only two points back of the London Knights for first in the Western Conference.

Since Bloom joined the Saginaw Spirit, he's been on a tear, playing at a point-per-game pace and on Friday night, Bloom took charge in their game against the Guelph Storm in what could be a potential playoff preview.

Bloom scored the overtime winner, while adding two assists, to give the Saginaw Spirit their 47th win of the 2023-24 season. Their 47 wins are the most in the team's history in Saginaw since relocating there from North Bay in 2002.

"Josh Bloom tosses a change-up to call the game in overtime. He posted a goal and two assists. #Canucks

He's now firing at a point-per-game clip in the OHL with 30 points20 points in his last 16 games."

In 30 games this season, Bloom has put up 30 points (13 goals, 17 assists), eight penalty minutes and is a plus-14.
