The Philadelphia Flyers had hired John Tortorella in hopes that he could change the culture within the team and bring them back on the road to victory after they had traded their long-standing captain Claude Giroux.

Things did not pan out the way they wished and now the Flyers have announced that they would be parting ways with Chuck Fletcher, who had been the team's GM for some time now. The team's assistant GM and team former superstar Daniel Briere will be taking over as interim GM for the time being. Here's the report that came from the 4th Period:

«Criticism over Fletcher's handling ahead of last week's trade deadline grew over the past week, leading to speculation that he could be replaced this off-season. It appears a decision has been made to move forward now.»

Daniel Briere, who had been considered for the GM job in Montreal before Kent Hughes was hired. Has been appointed for the interim job, he's obviously already familiar with the market in Philly after he spent 6 successful years as a player.

The Flyers ownership group will surely expect better asset management after a failed trade deadline moves for James Van Riemsdyk, and expect to see a major turnaround in that organization.
