As the Vancouver Canucks get set to face off against recently acquired Mikko Rantanen and the powerhouse Dallas Stars on Sunday, head coach Rick Tocchet has taken the necessary precautions to make sure they have the best chance at getting the win.

Our Vancouver Canucks are currently on a 2-game win streak, finally securing a spot in the playoff if they keep up this type of play, but there is a very small percentage chance that their star goalie in Kevin Lankinen may be out for their game against Dallas.

After Lankinen agreed to terms on a long-term contract extension with the Canucks worth $22.5 million USD ($4.5 million AAV), it is clear that Vancouver has handed their confidence in Lankinen to be their bonified starter going forward.
This reality was reinforced last night when he faced a heavy workload, stopping 27 shots to secure the 3-1 win over the Minnesota Wild.
Fans on social media were concerned when it was leaked that the 29-year-old netminder was no where to be seen on the ice for Canucks practice.
Fortunately, head coach Rick Tocchet put all rumors to rest immediately, saying that Lankinen is not currently with the team for the purpose of a maintenance day due to the strenuous start on Friday.
Tocchet says pure load management day for Lankinen after 37 saves last night. Silovs gets start in Abbotsford tonight. Hughes took scheduled day off the ice. Demko skated this morning before the group.
With Thatcher Demko still out week-to-week with an injury, it is not just important but necessary for Lankinen to stay healthy for the remaining 20+ games of the season if they want any chance at the Stanley Cup playoffs.
Every single game is so vital and important now that you can expect him to start the remaining games, especially against the Dallas Stars on Sunday.
