LATEST | Former Rangers first round selection demands a trade out and he fits what the Canucks are aiming for
The Rangers have made it very clear that they intend to go a long way into this year's playoff when they acquired Vladimir Tarasenko.
Just now, it was revealed that their former 1st Round Selection in 2018 Vitaly has now requested a trade. Coming from Rangers' insider Larry Brooks who confirmed that the winger was not satisfied with his situation with the club:
"The Post has confirmed that Vitali Kravtsov's camp has requested that No. 74 be moved ahead of the March 3 deadline if he is not a part of the club's immediate plans. Saturday's scratch in Carolina after having been reinserted into the lineup the previous night against Seattle following four straight in street clothes indicates that he is not."
The Rangers have an extremely deep forward pool and Kravstov may need a change of scenery to hit his true potential. The Rangers have developed a history of having issues developing their top draftees such as Kaapo Kakko, Alexis Lafreniere, and even Lias Andersson who was eventually traded away.
Rutherford revealed that in their "retool" they wanted to aim for players in their early 20s that had not yet reached their full potential, to breed them and help them get there. Plus Kravstov already knows a certain Vasily Podkolzin who's been developing his game in Vancouver, the two could probably grow a connection.
Back in 2020, the Rangers had traded Andersson for a 2nd Round Pick. Andersson being a centerman probably raised his true market value, it's fair to believe that Kravtsov could be going for anything as low as a 3rd Round Pick. If that's the price, should the Canucks acquire him?
It's definitely a low-risk high reward type of situation, wouldn't you like a 2nd line made of Podkolzin - Miller - Kravstov?
