Since Bo Horvat left for Long Island, the Canucks have gone captainless running with 4 players acting as alternates. J.T. Miller, Elias Pettersson, Quinn Hughes, and Oliver Ekman-Larsson were given leadership duties.

While the ongoing belief was that the race was between Quinn Hughes and Elias Pettersson, it seems that J.T. Miller's also been taking a significant place in the locker room.

Rick Tocchet revealed in his year-end media availability that he was in no hurry to name a captain and that there was no certainty that a captain would be named ahead of the 2023-2024 season:

He also revealed that the team's top leaders in Elias Pettersson, Quinn Hughes, and J.T. Miller were pushing hard for everyone to get back in Vancouver early in order to prepare adequately for the season:

This will undoubtedly heat up some arguments, J.T. Miller will not be named captain until his situation is sorted out, and Elias Pettersson still needs an extension before he gets that kind of commitment.

We'll have to wait and see who Tocchet sees as the next leader of the franchise, but if it were you making the call, who would be the next bearer of the C'?
