The Blue Jackets made an exciting signing over the summer when they agreed to terms with the market's free agent Johnny Gaudreau, though nothing have gone their way since the season started for various reasons.

The Jackets have opted to sell their highest-valued asset and Vladislav Gavrikov certainly falls into that description. A physical left handed defenseman, that can play at both ends of the ice. Though everything points to a trade coming rather sooner than later with the team's latest announcement:

LINEUP UPDATE: Blue Jackets D Vladislav Gavrikov will be a healthy scratch for tonight's game vs. New Jersey. He is being held out of the lineup for trade-related reasons.

He'll be joining Jakob Chychrun who's also been kept away from the ice due to trade reasons.

Gavrikov has been linked to a lot of teams, but the Oilers and the Leafs have never been taken out of this equation. The Blue Jackets even granted Gravikov's agent to seek to other GMs for a possible extension.

The defenseman is definitely on the move, as we move closer and closer to the deadline things will only get more interesting. I'd expect this trade to unfold as soon as Chychrun's destination is settled.
