Now a decade removed from the most recent facelift, including a retractable roof, the 'new toy' excitement has long faded. This city, this franchise & this building needed a new reason to be excited.
Enter this year's edition of the BC Lions.
The 12-6 Lions host the Calgary Stampeders this Sunday at 1PM, complete with their sharpshooter Quarterback Nathan Rourke back in the lineup after having surgery following an August 19th foot injury. Rourke did return to play 1 quarter in the final game vs Winnipeg just to get some touches, with the Lions brass confident he's ready to go for a full 60.
Rick Dhaliwal had Lions owner Amar Doman join him & Donnie today to chat about not only the first home playoff game in Vancouver for the Lions in over 5 years, but the only playoff game for ANY Vancouver based sports team in over a half decade.
Let's hope this playoff fever can rub off on both the Canucks & Giants, we can throw the Abbotsford Canucks in for good measure.
Neatly tucked into this game week's news for the Lions was an announcement that they will also host the 111th Grey Cup in 2024. When speaking with Donnie & Dhali, Lions owner Amar Doman dropped this jewel of a quote ;
