REMINISCING | May 18th 2011: Special anniversary for the Canucks and Kevin Bieksa
On May 18th, 2011 the Canucks were in the midst of their historical cup run. At this date, they were in game 2 of the série opposed to the San Jose Sharks.
Surely a defenceman that marked the Canucks' history, Kevin Bieksa had himself quite the night in this one since the beloved veteran had then registered a 'Gordie Howe Hat-Trick'. For this of you who don't know what this hat trick consists of, it's when you manage a fight, a goal, and an assist, all within the same game.
Bieksa started it off with this beauty of a goal on the breakaway:
He then delivered a spirited tilt to the Sharks' Patrick Marleau:
Proceeded to collect an assist to cap it off into the 3rd period when Chris Higgins scored on the power play. Canucks had then taken a 2-0 lead, they ended up winning this series in 5 games buying their way to the Final where they ultimately lost to the Boston Bruins in 7.
