Jeff Marek made an interesting remark earlier this week while he was on the 32 Thougths Podcast alongside Elliotte Friedman. He revealed that the Canucks had shown interest and were amongst the finalist to sign an intriguing undrafted defenseman.
Valtteri Pulli, a Finnish giant, 6'6'' and 209 pounds. Soon to turn 22 years old, he currently play in Finland's highest level of the game : the Liiga. He's a giant that will adapt to today's game with great skating abilities and a heck of a release as showcased in this video :
He's still under contract until the end of 2024, he likely won't be crossing the ocean until then. He's definitely what we'd call a late bloomer. He went undrafted when he was eligible, but he's been putting pretty good numbers this year with 14 points in 47 games in a struggling offensive team. His +2 differential is the statistic that stands out the most, since most of the team feature negatives in the differential column.
He'd surely make an intriguing prospect, his skating is impressive for a guy of his size. If he settles in nicely within the North-American sized rink, he'd definitely be a force to be reckoned with defensively speaking. Though the question that still stands is whether or not the Canucks will be able to land him?
