The Allen Americans College Classic tournament game between the University of North Texas (UNT) and East Texas Baptist University (ETBU) was stopped prematurely on Saturday due to a brawl among fans in the stands during the first period. At the time of the incident, UNT was leading 1-0. Following the altercation, and cancellation of the game, UNT released the following statement

The Allen Americans College Classic tourney had a game schedule between the University of North Texas (UNT) and East Texas Baptist University (ETBU) and authorities had to put an end to it prematurely. A fight involving fans, extra players, and coaches erupted behind the Mean Green's bench in the stands during the first period. The game ended up being canceled and the University of North Texas released the following statement:

'' During today's game between UNT and ETBU, a physical altercation occurred in the stands right behind the Mean Green bench between a UNT fan, extra ETBU players, and ETBU's head coach. The UNT hockey team had no involvement, and ETBU's actions were unjustified. Further actions have been taken due to this, and we will provide more information at a later date. No further comments will be made available at this time.''

A head coach engaging in any kind of altercation with fans has to be deemed unacceptable and intolerable behavior that goes against the expected role of coaches as exemplary leaders for their players.

Furthermore, the gravity of the situation is compounded by the involvement of ETBU players in the altercation, which highlights the reprehensibility of such actions that have no place in any setting, especially in sports.

At this moment, the league has not yet spoken about the actions, but these men better expect serious suspensions after such an occurrence.
