Now that the Carolina Hurricanes have officially been eliminated from playoff contention, some of their pending free agents have begun sharing their future plans.

The Hurricanes will have lots of work to do heading into the off-season. With four restricted free agents and no less than nine unrestricted free agents, there is no way they'll manage to keep everyone. There was chatter earlier during the season that the Hurricanes had looked at the possibility of trading away their right-handed Defenseman due to their inability to extend him, and now everything points toward him officially leaving the Canes.

His dad chatted up a bit on social media, and in a response to a fan, he specified that his son Brett would be on a different team moving forward:

I will come to Raleigh when Brett's on a different team and keep our tradition alive; vodka shots on me!

Pesce, a fit for the Canucks?

The Canucks only have one right-handed Defenseman under contract for 2024-2024. Filip Hronek is bound to be a restricted free agent whose contract talks haven't progressed. Tyler Myers is contractless with full autonomy heading into 2024-2025, and the only one that still has a valid contract for the Canucks is Noah Juulsen.

Pesce could very fill a void for the Canucks. Prominent, right-handed and physically dominant, he is known for being a reliable top-4 Defenseman in one of the NHL's best defensive systems. Should Allvin be out to court him as he heads towards free agency?

Coming off a 6-year deal that paid him over $24M, the 29-year-old may be looking for a pay raise. He's experienced and reliable, stands at 6'03 and weighs over 200 pounds. Could he be an excellent replacement for Ian Cole and Tyler Myers? An insurance policy for Filip Hronek?
