LATEST | Former NHL official Tim Peel starts social media scrum with journalists
Frustrations continue to grow in Edmonton after a 5-3 loss to the Stanley Cup Finalists, the Florida Panthers, on Monday night.
After the game, Sportsnet's Mark Spector asked Edmonton Oilers forward Connor McDavid a bit of an odd question, if the team would rather win games by a score of 4-1 or 7-5.
McDavid seemed frustrated with the question but answered anyways, saying that they're trying to keep the puck out of their net.
Later, on X, formerly Twitter, former NHL official Tim Peel got into a spat with Mark Spector, revealing a conversation they had in the DMs.
"This is what happens when you call out an Edmonton reporter for asking Connor McDavid if he'd rather win 4-1. An idiotic question, of course they would. This is why some players don't want to play in Canada. Connor played his ass off tonight!"
The Oilers will need to turn things around very soon if they have any hopes of making the Stanley Cup Playoffs. For a team that has two superstars in Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, it won't take long before either of them being to grow more and more frustrated with the entire situation. It's unlikely that either will want to leave the Oilers but with the team still without a Cup in the McDavid-era, it's certainly not a happy time in Alberta, that's for sure.
