LATEST | Allvin sets his eyes on an intriguing five-time twenty-goal scorer
With the National Hockey League's trade deadline only three days away, things are expected to get busy very quickly, and the Vancouver Canucks are expected to be in the mix.
Over the last couple of weeks, it's been revealed that the Vancouver Canucks would like to add another forward, as well as some defensive depth, but their priority is to add upfront, and there are several names they've been linked to.
In the last week alone, the Canucks have been linked to Jake Guentzel, Jordan Greenway and Tyler Toffoli, but a new name has emerged, and it's someone who brings plenty of intrigue with his goal-scoring ability.
In the most recent update of his trade watch list, David Pagnotta of The Fourth Period has linked the Vancouver Canucks, along with four other teams, to St. Louis Blues forward Pavel Buchnevich.
"Buchnevich has another year left on his contract and owns a 12-team no-trade list. The Blues are listening but are not rushing to trade him. Contenders looking for scoring punch will be calling, and the price tag will likely include a first-round pick.
TEAMS REPORTEDLY LINKED: Vegas, Los Angeles, Edmonton, Carolina, Vancouver." Pagnotta said in an article on The Fourth Period.
Buchnevich, 28, has played in 59 games for the St. Louis Blues this season, scoring 48 points (24 goals, 24 assists), playing 40 penalty minutes, and being a plus-ten. He has one year remaining on his contract beyond the 2023-24 campaign, with a cap hit of $5.8 million and a 12-team no-trade list.
What's next? Sources say #stlblues have signaled they're willing to "get creative" and retain up to half on Pavel Buchnevich in order to juice a return.
It should be an interesting few days as we head toward the trade deadline at 12 p.m. PT/3 p.m. ET on Friday, March 8th. It seems inevitable at this point that Vancouver Canucks General Manager Patrik Allvin will add another forward to bring more depth to the roster, with a deep playoff run on the mind of everyone in the organization.
