"Get Rid of Him Now" - Former Canucks Coach Bruce Boudreau Doesn't Hold Back Feelings Towards Elias Pettersson

Former Vancouver Canucks head coach Bruce Boudreau gets brutally blunt about what Petrik Allvin should have done with their "star" forward Elias Pettersson.
Now that the NHL trade deadline is done with and teams can no longer add or acquire players through trades, Elias Pettersson is obviously staying put, but that did not deter Bruce Boudreau from saying how he feels about the 26-year-old future with Vancouver.
Bruce Boudreau bluntly tells the Vancouver Canucks to trade Elias Pettersson
Even though EP40 broke his scoreless streak with a beauty slapper on Friday night against the Minnesota Wild, the entire season has been just one big slump, causing a ton of criticism due to earning $11.6 million a season.
His former head coach Bruce Boudreau spoke out publicly, saying his time with the Vancouver Canucks is inevitably coming to an end and that a fresh start on a new team is what he needs.
"You know what, I said it before they traded Miller, I think they should trade both of them," the coach-turned-analyst said. "With Elias, I think he's a great player, when I had him, but I think his time in Vancouver has run out. I just think he needs a new spot to flourish because he's not doing it right now."
He continued saying that ever since Miller left the team, Pettersson is in the exact same spot, and if they do not want to be left with his contract for the foreseeable future, they need to move him, but obviously it is too late, especially that his no trade clause kick in this offseason.
"Ever since JT has left, he hasn't done much," Boudreau added. "I think he's in that position where he's not going to be that good in Vancouver, and if they want to get something (for him), now is the time."
"I would move him now, get something good that you can still win with," the former Canucks coach said. "I mean, he would be the number one guy that everybody wants-a number one center with the potential of being great. I would try to get rid of him right now."
While Bruce Boudreau's take on Pettersson is a blunt and direct as it can get, it is also a tad dramatic, especially coming from his ex-coach.
Obviously he has not been his best this season, but there is a reason why they gave him that contract in the first place.
It is fair to criticize him like this, but he clearly has what it takes to get back into form, and one bad season should not call for him to be traded.
