BREAKING | NHL issues official statement: Former Canuck passed away at sixty-six
The NHL issued an official statement moments ago announcing that the former NHLer Brad Maxwell had passed away.
66, Maxwell lost a hard-fought battle with lung cancer. The Maxwell family issued the following statement:
'It is with heavy hearts that we share the news of the passing of Brad 'Maxy' Maxwell on Sept. 3, 2023. Those who knew him were truly lucky, and he will be deeply missed. Please keep his family in your thoughts and prayers.''
Maxwell was the 7th overall pick in the 1977 Amateur Draft; he played a total of 10 seasons in the NHL mostly with the Minnesota North Stars. He was crucial in their 1981 run when they fell to the Islanders in the Stanley Cup final.
The Defenseman played with the Canucks in the 1986-87 campaign when he participated in 30 outings. We wish to send our deepest condolences to his family and friends during these tough times.
